About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse (Female) to join the health services team at Salmiya Boys' Middle/High School in Kuwait. This full-time position begins in August 2026 and offers the opportunity to support student health and wellness in a dynamic international school environment. The successful candidate will provide direct nursing care, manage health records, and collaborate with faculty to promote a safe and healthy learning community.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide immediate first aid and emergency care to students and staff during school hours.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and authorized by parents.
- Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, BMI) and maintain accurate student health records.
- Develop and implement individualized health care plans for students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies).
- Monitor immunization compliance and communicable disease reporting per Kuwait Ministry of Health regulations.
- Collaborate with school counselors, administrators, and teachers to support student well-being and academic success.
- Deliver health education sessions on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, and puberty.
- Maintain the school clinic, ensuring adequate supplies, equipment, and infection control standards.
- Serve as a liaison between the school, parents, and external healthcare providers.
- Participate in school safety drills and emergency preparedness planning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing diploma from an accredited institution.
- Valid nursing license/registration from the Kuwait Ministry of Health (or eligibility to obtain).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics, school health, or community health.
- Strong knowledge of child development, common pediatric illnesses, and school health policies.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is highly advantageous.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound clinical judgment, and maintain confidentiality (HIPAA/FERPA awareness).
- Female candidate required (per school policy for boys' middle/high school setting).
Preferred Skills
- Experience in an international or British/American curriculum school setting.
- Certification in School Nursing (e.g., NCSN) or postgraduate qualification in child health.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in schools (e.g., SNAP, PowerSchool Health).
- Training in mental health first aid or counseling techniques for adolescents.
- Experience managing health programs for students with special educational needs.
