GSMI is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in Process Mineralogy, Mineral Processing, and Artificial Intelligence to join our research team in Morocco. This position is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal for an additional 12 months, offering an excellent opportunity to advance cutting-edge research at the intersection of mineral engineering and AI-driven process optimization.
About the Role
This postdoctoral position focuses on integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques into process mineralogy and mineral processing workflows. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary research environment, contributing to innovative projects that leverage computational methods to solve complex challenges in ore characterization, process efficiency, and sustainable mineral extraction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced research in process mineralogy using AI and machine learning methodologies
- Develop predictive models for mineral processing operations and optimization
- Analyze ore characterization data using computational tools and automated mineralogy platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional research teams on sustainable mineral extraction projects
- Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences
- Contribute to the development of innovative AI-driven solutions for mineral processing challenges
- Mentor graduate students and contribute to the academic mission of the research group
- Prepare technical reports and research documentation for project stakeholders
Qualifications and Requirements
- PhD in Mineral Processing, Mining Engineering, Materials Science, Geology, or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in process mineralogy and mineral processing principles
- Strong background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science applications in engineering
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB for data analysis and modeling
- Experience with automated mineralogy systems (e.g., MLA, QEMSCAN, TIMA) is highly desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French proficiency is an asset
- Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team environment
