Role Overview

The Associate Director Access & Reimbursement leads market access strategy for the cardiovascular portfolio across the Houston, Texas geography. This remote and field-based position requires deep expertise in payer engagement, reimbursement optimization, and health economics outcomes research (HEOR) to ensure patient access to innovative therapies. The role sits within the Novartis Pharmaceuticals Cardiovascular (NPS CV) business unit and collaborates cross-functionally with medical affairs, health economics, field reimbursement managers, and regional account directors.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute market access strategies aligned with national and regional payer landscapes for cardiovascular products.
• Lead payer negotiation and formulary placement initiatives with commercial plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and integrated delivery networks (IDNs) in the Houston territory.
• Provide strategic guidance on reimbursement coding, coverage policy, and prior authorization processes to field teams and provider offices.
• Analyze market access data, payer analytics, and real-world evidence to identify access barriers and opportunities.
• Partner with Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) to generate value dossiers and economic models supporting payer value propositions.
• Manage patient support programs, copay assistance, and bridge programs to mitigate access challenges.
• Collaborate with Regional Account Directors and Field Reimbursement Managers to drive pull-through execution at the account level.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting drug pricing, 340B, Medicaid best price, and Inflation Reduction Act implications.

Requirements

Hard Skills

• 8+ years of progressive pharmaceutical market access, managed care, or payer marketing experience.
• Proven track record in cardiovascular or specialty therapeutic areas with deep understanding of payer decision-making frameworks.
• Expertise in formulary management, utilization management, value-based contracting, and outcomes-based agreements.
• Strong analytical skills with SQL, Tableau, or Power BI for market access data visualization.
• Knowledge of CMS regulations, Medicare Part B/D, Medicaid, and commercial payer landscapes in Texas.
• Experience with field-based reimbursement support and provider education on coding (HCPCS, CPT, ICD-10) and billing compliance.
