About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Early Years Teacher to join a reputable international school in Qatar. This is a permanent, full-time position within the Academic Department, reporting directly to the Assistant Head of Primary: Early Years. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality early childhood education aligned with the British EYFS framework or equivalent international curricula, fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for children aged 3-5 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons following the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum or equivalent international early years frameworks.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes holistic child development across all seven areas of learning: Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design.
- Conduct ongoing observational assessments using Tapestry, Seesaw, or similar digital learning journals to track individual progress and inform planning.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with parents through regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, and written reports.
- Collaborate closely with the Early Years team, Teaching Assistants, and specialist teachers (Arabic, PE, Music, Library) to ensure cohesive curriculum delivery.
- Implement effective behavior management strategies consistent with positive reinforcement and restorative practices.
- Participate in professional development sessions, staff meetings, and school events as required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Early Years provision through curriculum review, resource development, and sharing best practices.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, Qatar Ministry of Education regulations, and international accreditation standards (e.g., BSO, CIS, QNSA).
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education (with Early Years specialization), or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE, B.Ed., or equivalent) with Early Years/Foundation Stage focus.
- Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience teaching in an Early Years / Foundation Stage / KG setting, preferably within a British curriculum or international school environment.
- Thorough knowledge of the EYFS framework, Development Matters, and Birth to 5 Matters guidance.
- Experience with phonics programs (e.g., Read Write Inc., Jolly Phonics, Letters and Sounds) and early mathematics mastery approaches.
- Strong classroom management skills with a child-centered, play-based pedagogical philosophy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and leadership.
- Proficiency in educational technology (interactive whiteboards, iPad integration, digital assessment tools).
- Eligibility for Qatar teacher licensure (QCF/QNSA) and ability to obtain a police clearance certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or Educational Leadership.
- Experience with IB PYP Early Years, Reggio Emilia, or Montessori approaches.
- Previous teaching experience in the Gulf region (Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain).
- Arabic language proficiency (basic to conversational).
- Experience leading an Early Years year group or subject coordination.
- Certification in Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding/Child Protection (Level 2 or 3).
