Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher (Special Educational Needs Teacher), also referred to as an Inclusion Teacher, to join our Academic department on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Inclusion and play a pivotal role in supporting students with diverse learning needs within an inclusive educational environment in Qatar.
Key Responsibilities
- Learning, Teaching, and Classroom Management: Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
- Inclusive Practice: Implement inclusive teaching strategies that enable SEN students to access the mainstream curriculum alongside their peers.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct regular formative and summative assessments; track student progress against IEP targets; adjust interventions as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, learning support assistants, therapists, and parents to ensure a coordinated approach to each student's development.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of student progress, IEP reviews, and communication logs in line with school policy and local regulatory requirements.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing CPD related to SEN best practices, inclusive pedagogy, and relevant legislation.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent).
- Specialized certification or training in Special Educational Needs / Inclusion.
- Proven experience as an SEN Teacher, Inclusion Teacher, or Learning Support Teacher in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, differentiated instruction, and assistive technologies.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Excellent understanding of SEN categories (e.g., ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties, sensory impairments).
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and planning.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; cultural sensitivity in a diverse international school context.
- Proficiency in using educational technology to support accessible learning.
