Role Overview

The Director of Consumer Protection and Commercial Control Department is a senior leadership role within the UAE Ministry of Economy. This position oversees the department's strategic direction, ensures robust consumer protection frameworks, and enforces commercial control regulations across the Emirates. The Director collaborates with government entities to develop policies that promote transparency, fairness, and legal compliance in the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement consumer awareness programs to educate the public on their rights and how to claim them.
• Take necessary measures to protect consumer rights and ensure transparency and fairness in the sale of goods and services.
• Combat illegal commercial practices in coordination with relevant authorities.
• Manage organizational units within the department, monitor performance, and prevent duplication of objectives.
• Prepare strategic and operational plans, develop performance indicators, and ensure their achievement.
• Propose and develop policies, strategies, and legislation related to consumer protection and commercial control.
• Verify compliance with commercial legislation under the Ministry's supervision.
• Strengthen relationships with external partners to establish strategic partnerships and manage change.
• Receive and process consumer complaints, taking necessary actions or referring to competent authorities.
• Follow up on complaints and take actions against violations of commercial control legislation.
• Lead, direct, and approve work procedures, performance indicators, and quality standards.
• Monitor administrative operations including planning, budgeting, reporting, and service delivery.
• Develop internal plans to promote teamwork and continuous learning.
• Enforce controls to monitor and regulate prices of goods and services.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. in Business Administration, Economics, or Law with 4 years of relevant experience.
• Master's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Law with 7 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Law with 10 years of relevant experience.
