Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plant Shift In-Charge to oversee daily operations at our Lime & Dolomite Plant. This role is critical to maintaining continuous production, ensuring equipment reliability, and upholding the highest standards of product quality and workplace safety. The successful candidate will lead a team of operators and technicians, coordinate maintenance activities, and drive operational efficiency during assigned shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, allocate, and direct work for plant operators and technicians across the shift.
- Control and monitor daily production targets, adjusting processes to meet output and quality specifications.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Conduct shift handovers, ensuring clear communication of plant status, issues, and priorities.
- Investigate process deviations, equipment failures, and quality non-conformances; implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate shift logs, production reports, and maintenance records.
- Coordinate with day-shift management, maintenance planners, and quality control to ensure seamless 24/7 operations.
- Train and mentor junior staff on standard operating procedures and safe work practices.
- Optimize resource utilization, including raw materials, energy, and manpower.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a process plant environment (lime, cement, dolomite, or similar mineral processing).
- Proven 3+ years in a supervisory or shift-in-charge role.
- Strong knowledge of plant operations, process control, and maintenance management.
- Demonstrated expertise in HSE compliance and risk assessment.
- Proficiency in reading P&IDs, PFDs, and electrical/mechanical drawings.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Process Safety Management (PSM) or NEBOSH / OSHA.
- Experience with SCADA / DCS systems and CMMS (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo).
- Background in kiln operations, hydration, or grinding circuits.
- Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher).
- Fluency in Arabic and English.
Work Environment
This position is based at an industrial plant site in Kuwait. The role involves exposure to high-temperature processes, dust, and noise; appropriate PPE is mandatory. The shift schedule follows a rotating roster to ensure continuous plant coverage.
