About UM6P and the MSN Department
The MSN (Materials, Substances and Nanotechnology) Department at UM6P focuses on applied research in materials science, mineral resource valorization, and sustainable industrial processes. The department collaborates with industry partners and international research institutions to develop innovative solutions for energy, environment, and advanced technology challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced research in mineral processing, including ore characterization, extraction techniques, and beneficiation methods.
- Develop and optimize processes for battery materials synthesis, characterization, and performance evaluation.
- Design and implement sustainable process engineering solutions that minimize environmental impact and maximize resource efficiency.
- Contribute to the development of novel materials for energy storage and conversion applications.
- Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and external industry partners.
- Mentor graduate students and contribute to the department's academic mission.
- Prepare technical reports, research proposals, and grant applications.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Proven research experience in mineral processing and/or battery materials development.
- Strong background in sustainable engineering practices and process optimization.
- Experience with advanced characterization techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, etc.).
- Demonstrated publication record in reputable scientific journals.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Proficiency in scientific software and process simulation tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes.
- Knowledge of lithium-ion battery material synthesis and recycling technologies.
- Familiarity with life cycle assessment (LCA) and circular economy principles.
- Experience in managing or contributing to funded research projects.
- Ability to work independently and in collaborative team environments.
