About the Role

Worley, a global leader in energy, chemicals, and resources, is seeking a Safety Engineer Level II to join our team in Oman. In this role, you will support the delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient project execution across the full project lifecycle. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams to ensure that all safety standards, regulations, and best practices are embedded in every phase of our operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and hazard identification processes.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with Worley HSE standards and local regulations.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Facilitate safety training sessions and toolbox talks for project teams and contractors.
• Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, including leading and lagging indicators.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to integrate safety into design and execution.
• Review and approve method statements, job safety analyses (JSAs), and permit-to-work systems.
• Stay current with industry safety trends, regulations, and technologies to continuously improve safety practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in safety engineering within the energy, chemicals, or resources sector.
• Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of international safety standards (ISO 45001, OSHA, etc.) and local Omani safety regulations.
• Proven experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety auditing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with major capital projects in oil & gas, petrochemicals, or power generation.
• Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) and bowtie analysis.
• Certified Lead Auditor for management systems.
• Proficiency in safety software and data analysis tools.
