Job Purpose

The Aga Khan Foundation, a leading global development organisation, is seeking a skilled Accountant to join its team in Cairo. This role is critical in supporting the foundation's mission to tackle the root causes of poverty by ensuring accurate financial management and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with local and international accounting standards.
• Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Ensure timely and accurate tax filings and compliance with Egyptian tax regulations.
• Reconcile bank statements and maintain cash flow records.
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation and explanations.
• Collaborate with program teams to track project-specific expenditures and donor reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit or development sector.
• Strong knowledge of Egyptian accounting standards and tax laws.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.

Desired Skills

• Experience with donor-funded projects and grant accounting.
• Familiarity with international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
