Role Overview

As the Lead Compliance professional for MashreqBank Egypt, you will be the primary authority on sanctions compliance, ensuring the bank operates within the complex web of domestic and international regulatory frameworks. This role demands deep expertise in sanctions regimes from the UAE, US, UK, EU, UN, and other key jurisdictions, directly safeguarding the institution against legal, financial, and reputational risk.

Core Responsibilities

• Sanctions Interpretation: Continuously monitor, interpret, and apply all relevant sanctions laws and regulations, including those from the UAE, US (OFAC), UK, EU, and UN Security Council resolutions.
• Regulatory Awareness: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of evolving sanctions landscapes and their impact on banking operations, ensuring the bank's policies remain current and effective.
• Compliance Advisory: Provide expert guidance to internal teams on sanctions-related matters, including transaction screening, customer due diligence, and risk assessment.
• Policy Development: Assist in drafting and updating internal compliance policies, procedures, and controls to align with international standards and local regulatory requirements.
• Risk Mitigation: Identify potential sanctions exposure and recommend proactive measures to mitigate legal and operational risks across all business lines.

Required Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of international sanctions regimes (UAE, US, UK, EU, UN).
• Proven experience in sanctions compliance within a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong analytical and interpretive skills to navigate complex regulatory texts.
• Excellent communication and advisory abilities.
• Familiarity with Egypt's regulatory environment is a plus.
