About the Role
Mindrift is seeking experienced Chatbot Developers to join the Tendem project on a freelance basis. You will design, build, and maintain conversational bots and messaging-platform integrations across WhatsApp Business API, Telegram Bot API, and Discord API. This role focuses on creating scalable, intelligent conversational experiences that engage users across multiple messaging channels.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy chatbots using WhatsApp Business API, Telegram Bot API, and Discord API
- Design conversation flows, intent recognition, and entity extraction for natural language understanding
- Integrate bots with backend services, databases, and third-party APIs
- Implement webhook handling, message templates, and interactive components (buttons, carousels, modals)
- Optimize bot performance, latency, and error handling across high-volume messaging environments
- Collaborate with product and design teams to refine conversational UX and copy
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices
- Conduct testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) and monitor bot analytics post-launch
- Stay current with platform API updates, policy changes, and emerging conversational AI trends
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience building production bots for WhatsApp Business API, Telegram Bot API, and/or Discord API
- Strong proficiency in Node.js, Python, or TypeScript for backend bot development
- Hands-on experience with NLP/NLU frameworks (Dialogflow, Rasa, Wit.ai, LUIS, or custom solutions)
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous messaging patterns
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) for session/state management
- Ability to work independently, manage deliverables, and communicate progress in a remote freelance setting
- Portfolio or GitHub repositories demonstrating live chatbot projects
Preferred Skills
- Experience with conversational AI platforms (Voiceflow, Botpress, Microsoft Bot Framework)
- Knowledge of LLM integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, local models) for generative chatbot capabilities
- Familiarity with WhatsApp Template Message approval processes and compliance
- Background in multi-channel messaging orchestration (unified inbox, omnichannel routing)
- Understanding of analytics & A/B testing for conversation optimization
- Contributions to open-source bot libraries or developer communities
