Lead and oversee machine build automation projects with a focus on PLC programming, system integration, and production line optimization. This role drives the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated manufacturing systems to ensure high-quality output, operational efficiency, and safety compliance in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the development and deployment of machine build automation solutions from concept through commissioning.
- Manage PLC programming, troubleshooting, and optimization for Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent platforms.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to deliver integrated automation systems.
- Define technical specifications, create documentation, and enforce standards for automation equipment and control panels.
- Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations (ISO 13849, IEC 62061) and internal quality standards.
- Mentor and train junior technicians and engineers on PLC logic, HMI development, and automation best practices.
- Collaborate with vendors and OEMs to evaluate new technologies and manage equipment procurement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in machine build automation and PLC systems within automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
- Proven supervisory experience leading automation projects and technical teams.
- Advanced proficiency in PLC programming (Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, Codesys).
- Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, OPC UA).
- Experience with robotics integration (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA) and vision systems.
- Familiarity with MES/SCADA systems and Industry 4.0 concepts.
