Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Export Specialist to join our team at Sika, a global leader in the development and production of systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing, and protecting in the building sector and automotive industry. This role is pivotal in managing end-to-end export operations for construction materials, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, optimizing logistics, and supporting market expansion across target regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full export cycle: order processing, documentation preparation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading), and shipment coordination.
- Ensure strict adherence to customs regulations, export controls, sanctions screening, and Incoterms for all international shipments.
- Collaborate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers to negotiate rates, optimize transit times, and resolve logistics discrepancies.
- Monitor and maintain accurate export documentation in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and ensure data integrity for audit compliance.
- Prepare and submit letters of credit, documentary collections, and other trade finance instruments in coordination with finance teams.
- Analyze export performance metrics, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement process improvements for supply chain efficiency.
- Support new market entry by researching import requirements, tariff classifications (HS codes), and local certification standards for construction chemicals and adhesives.
- Act as primary point of contact for international distributors and subsidiaries regarding shipment status, documentation queries, and claim resolution.
- Stay current on changes in international trade agreements, sanctions, and regulatory updates affecting the construction materials sector.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in export operations within manufacturing or industrial goods, preferably construction materials or chemicals.
- Proven expertise in export documentation, customs compliance, and Incoterms 2020.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel.
- Fluent in English and French; Arabic is a strong asset for the Tunisian market context.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple shipments across different time zones.
- Solid understanding of HS code classification, rules of origin, and trade agreement utilization (e.g., EU-Tunisia Association Agreement, Agadir Agreement).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in international trade (e.g., CITP, CES, or customs broker license).
- Experience with hazardous materials (DG) shipping regulations (IATA, IMDG, ADR) for chemical products.
- Familiarity with the construction industry supply chain and distributor management.
- Track record of implementing digital trade solutions or automation in export processes.
