About the Role
Talabat, the region's leading food and grocery delivery platform and part of the global Delivery Hero Group, is seeking a Commercial Specialist for the Ultra Fresh Category. This role sits at the intersection of category management, commercial strategy, and marketplace growth. You will drive the commercial performance of the ultra-fresh vertical — including fresh produce, dairy, bakery, and chilled items — ensuring optimal assortment, pricing, promotions, and supplier partnerships across the Egypt market.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the Ultra Fresh category to maximize GMV, margin, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage end-to-end category P&L: pricing architecture, promotional calendars, markdown optimization, and waste reduction.
- Build and nurture strategic relationships with key suppliers, local farmers, distributors, and FMCG partners to secure exclusive assortments and favorable commercial terms.
- Analyze market trends, competitor benchmarks, and customer purchase behavior to identify growth opportunities and assortment gaps.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Tech teams to launch category campaigns, improve in-stock rates, and enhance the customer experience.
- Define and track KPIs: sell-through rate, freshness index, availability, average order value, and supplier compliance.
- Lead category reviews and business reviews with stakeholders, presenting actionable insights and commercial recommendations.
- Support new vendor onboarding, contract negotiations, and joint business planning cycles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Category Management, Commercial Planning, Buying, or Merchandising — preferably in FMCG, Grocery Retail, E-commerce, or Food Delivery.
- Proven track record managing fresh/perishable categories (produce, dairy, meat, bakery) with strong commercial acumen.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; experience with SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI tools is a strong plus.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management capabilities with a results-oriented mindset.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, data-driven, and highly collaborative environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with marketplace or quick-commerce models (dark stores, micro-fulfillment centers).
- Knowledge of Egyptian fresh produce supply chain, seasonality, and local sourcing dynamics.
- Familiarity with pricing elasticity modeling, promotional ROI analysis, and assortment planning tools.
- Project management certification (PMP, Scrum) or experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Prior experience at Delivery Hero, Talabat, or similar hyper-growth tech/logistics organizations.
