Role Overview

The Specialist – Pediatric Emergency Medicine is a senior medical position within the Division of Emergency Medicine, based in Qatar. The successful candidate will be a Board-Certified physician specializing in pediatric emergency care, responsible for delivering high-acuity medical treatment to children and adolescents in a fast-paced hospital emergency setting. This role demands clinical excellence, rapid diagnostic decision-making, and a deep commitment to patient safety within a leading healthcare institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized emergency medical care to pediatric patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and life-threatening conditions.
• Perform rapid triage assessment, stabilization, and resuscitation of critically ill or injured children in accordance with Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing staff, pediatric intensivists, surgeons, and radiologists to develop and execute comprehensive treatment plans.
• Interpret diagnostic imaging, laboratory results, and clinical findings to make timely, evidence-based medical decisions.
• Maintain accurate and thorough electronic medical records (EMR) in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and peer review processes to enhance pediatric emergency care outcomes.
• Mentor and provide clinical guidance to junior doctors, residents, and medical students rotating through the emergency department.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in pediatric emergency medicine through continuing medical education (CME) and professional development activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Board Certification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine or equivalent recognized qualification.
• Medical degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Valid medical license or eligibility for licensure to practice medicine in Qatar.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of post-residency clinical experience in pediatric emergency or acute care settings.
• Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Demonstrated expertise in pediatric resuscitation, airway management, and emergency procedural skills.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities with the capacity to make rapid clinical decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
• Compassionate patient-centered approach with the ability to manage distressed families in high-stress situations.
