Bodyshop Quality Controller - Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bodyshop Quality Controller to oversee and enforce quality assurance standards across all vehicle repair operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive quality testing, verifying repair compliance with job orders, and ensuring adherence to industry best practices and manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough quality inspections on all completed repairs, including structural, mechanical, and cosmetic work.
- Verify that all repairs align precisely with job orders, estimate specifications, and OEM guidelines.
- Monitor and enforce quality standards across all bodyshop departments: panel beating, painting, preparation, and assembly.
- Identify defects, deviations, or non-conformances and initiate corrective actions immediately.
- Collaborate with technicians, estimators, and workshop managers to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Maintain detailed inspection records, quality reports, and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Conduct final vehicle delivery inspections to ensure customer satisfaction and safety compliance.
- Stay updated on latest repair technologies, materials, and quality control methodologies in the automotive collision repair industry.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Quality Controller, Quality Inspector, or Senior Technician in an automotive bodyshop or collision repair center.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle construction, repair procedures, paint systems, and panel alignment.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as I-CAR, ASE, or manufacturer certification programs.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (QMS), ISO 9001 principles, and continuous improvement practices.
- Ability to read and interpret repair estimates, technical bulletins, and structural repair manuals.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and decision-making ability under pressure.
- Effective communication skills for cross-functional coordination and reporting.
