The Senior Quantity Surveyor role at a distinguished British Cost Consultancy in Qatar demands a seasoned professional to deliver commercial excellence across major infrastructure and building projects. This position involves leading cost management strategies, ensuring contractual compliance, and providing expert commercial advisory to project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage detailed cost plans, estimates, and budgets for multi-disciplinary projects from inception through completion
- Administer construction contracts including NEC, FIDIC, and JCT forms, managing variations, claims, and dispute resolution processes
- Conduct value engineering exercises and cost-benefit analyses to optimize project expenditure without compromising quality
- Lead procurement strategies for main contracts and subcontract packages, including tender documentation and evaluation
- Prepare interim valuations, cash flow forecasts, and final account negotiations with contractors and supply chain partners
- Provide commercial risk assessments and mitigation strategies for project leadership and client representatives
- Mentor junior surveyors and coordinate with design teams to ensure cost alignment with design development
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related discipline; MRICS or equivalent chartership essential
- Minimum 10 years post-qualification experience in cost consultancy, with at least 5 years in a senior capacity on major projects
- Proven track record in the Middle East/GCC market, specifically Qatar, with deep knowledge of local regulations and procurement practices
- Expert proficiency in cost management software (CostX, Candy, BIM 360) and advanced Excel modeling capabilities
- Strong command of NEC3/NEC4, FIDIC Red/Yellow Book, and local Qatar construction contract frameworks
- Demonstrated experience in infrastructure, commercial, or residential sectors valued at $100M+
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English; Arabic proficiency considered a distinct advantage
