AVEVA UOC Lead Engineer - Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced AVEVA UOC Lead Engineer to define and deliver end-to-end Unified Operations Center (UOC) solution architectures on the AVEVA System Platform and Operations Management suite. This role requires deep expertise in industrial software architecture, SCADA/HMI systems, and manufacturing execution systems (MES) within process and discrete manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect comprehensive AVEVA UOC solutions aligning with client operational requirements and digital transformation goals.
- Define end-to-end solution architectures leveraging AVEVA System Platform, AVEVA Operations Management, and associated visualization, historian, and analytics components.
- Lead technical workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements, perform gap analysis, and develop solution blueprints.
- Oversee integration strategies for SCADA, HMI, MES, ERP, and IIoT platforms using standard protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, REST APIs).
- Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, and commissioning.
- Establish and enforce best practices for AVEVA System Platform configuration, scripting (.NET, Python), redundancy, security, and performance optimization.
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct design reviews ensuring compliance with ISA-95, ISA-88, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including automation, IT/OT convergence, cybersecurity, and data science.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience with AVEVA System Platform (formerly Wonderware ArchestrA) and AVEVA Operations Management (formerly Wonderware Operations Management).
- Proven track record as a Lead Architect or Senior Engineer on large-scale UOC or SCADA/HMI modernization projects.
- Deep knowledge of ArchestrA IDE, Galaxy, InTouch, Historian, MES modules, and Workflow.
- Strong proficiency in C#/.NET, Python, SQL Server, and industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with ISA-95/ISA-88 standards, ALM/DevOps practices, and version control (Git, TFS).
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- AVEVA Certified Professional or AVEVA System Platform Certification.
- Experience with AVEVA PI System, AVEVA Insight, or AVEVA Manufacturing Execution.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) for IIoT and Edge-to-Enterprise architectures.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized deployment models.
- Background in Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverage, or Power Generation industries.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Prince2 certification.
Experience & Competencies
Technical Leadership: 5+ years leading engineering teams delivering AVEVA-based solutions.
Solution Architecture: Expert-level design of distributed, redundant, and secure industrial architectures.
Integration: Extensive experience integrating OT systems with IT enterprise applications (ERP, CMMS, LIMS).
Lifecycle Management: Full SDLC/ALM experience including requirements engineering, testing strategies, and support models.
