Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Commis I to join our culinary team. This role is ideal for a dedicated kitchen professional who takes pride in delivering extraordinary levels of customer service through creative, high-quality food preparation. As a Commis I, you will play a vital role in supporting the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistent execution of menu items while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items according to standardized recipes and portion controls.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked work station at all times.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP) to ensure compliance with local health authority standards.
- Support senior chefs in mise en place, ingredient preparation, and plating for service.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and presentation; report any discrepancies immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen brigade members to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
- Assist in inventory checks, receiving deliveries, and proper storage of perishable and dry goods.
- Participate in regular kitchen deep-cleaning schedules and equipment maintenance.
- Adhere to company policies, grooming standards, and punctuality requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Commis I or similar entry-level culinary role in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, or catering operation.
- Formal culinary training or diploma from a recognized hospitality institute (preferred but not mandatory with equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of basic cooking techniques, knife skills, and food safety practices.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good command of English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
- Valid food handler’s certificate or willingness to obtain one upon hiring.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with international cuisines (Mediterranean, Asian, Continental, etc.).
- Previous work in a 4- or 5-star hotel or fine-dining establishment.
- Familiarity with kitchen management systems and digital ordering platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior kitchen staff.

Working Conditions
This position requires standing for extended periods, working in a hot and humid kitchen environment, and lifting up to 25 kg.
