Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated ESG Accountant to join our finance and sustainability team in Cairo, Egypt. This role focuses on integrating environmental, social, and governance metrics into financial reporting processes, ensuring accurate ESG data collection, sustainability accounting, and compliance with international reporting frameworks. The ideal candidate will drive carbon accounting, GHG emissions tracking, and ESG disclosure preparation while collaborating cross-functionally to embed sustainability into core financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and validate ESG reports aligned with GRI, SASB, TCFD, and ISSB standards.
• Manage ESG data collection from multiple business units, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.
• Perform carbon footprint calculations and greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory management following GHG Protocol guidelines.
• Support sustainability-linked financing and green bond reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with the sustainability team to define ESG KPIs and integrate them into financial planning and analysis.
• Assist in ESG assurance processes and respond to rating agency questionnaires (e.g., CDP, DJSI, MSCI).
• Monitor evolving ESG regulations in Egypt and globally, advising on compliance impacts.
• Develop and maintain ESG accounting policies and internal control frameworks.

Requirements

Hard Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Environmental Science, or related field; CPA, ACCA, or CMA preferred.
• Proven experience in ESG reporting, sustainability accounting, or carbon accounting within a corporate or consulting environment.
• Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, ISSB, UN SDGs) and GHG Protocol (Scope 1, 2, 3).
• Proficiency in ESG data management platforms (e.g., Enablon, Sphera, Workiva) and advanced Excel / Power BI for data visualization.
• Familiarity with IFRS S1/S2 and upcoming Egyptian ESG regulatory landscape.
• Experience with external assurance processes and ESG rating agencies.

• Strong communication skills to present sustainability metrics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
