Job Purpose
As a CICS System Programmer, you will be responsible for the installation, customization, maintenance, and support of IBM CICS (Customer Information Control System) transaction processing environments. You will ensure high availability, performance tuning, and system reliability across critical mainframe applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain CICS systems and subsystems in a z/OS environment
- Perform system upgrades, maintenance, and patching according to change management procedures
- Monitor system performance, diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
- Develop and implement system exits, user-replaceable modules, and CICS-related automation
- Manage CICS regions, including start-up, shutdown, and resource definition (RCT, PPT, PCT, TST, etc.)
- Collaborate with application teams to optimize program execution and transaction throughput
- Implement security controls via RACF or similar products in CICS environments
- Document all system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a CICS Systems Programmer or in a similar mainframe role
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of IBM CICS, z/OS, JCL, VSAM, DB2, COBOL, Assembler, and performance monitoring tools (e.g., OMEGAMON, TMON)
- Languages: Good command of the English language (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Soft Skills: Analytical thinking, problem-solving, team collaboration, and effective communication
