Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Administrator Engineer to oversee and manage construction contract administration for major projects. This role requires deep expertise in contract management, claims resolution, variation control, and subcontract administration within the construction and engineering sectors. The successful candidate will ensure contractual compliance, mitigate risk, and support project delivery through effective contract governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer construction contracts from award through close-out, ensuring adherence to terms, conditions, and statutory requirements.
- Review and manage contractual correspondence, including notices, claims, variations, and extension of time requests.
- Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate variation orders and change orders in accordance with contract provisions (FIDIC, NEC, bespoke forms).
- Administer subcontract agreements: review scope, terms, flow-down clauses, and manage subcontractor claims and payments.
- Process and certify payment applications (interim and final) for main contractors and subcontractors, verifying quantities, rates, and contractual entitlements.
- Conduct contract risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential disputes.
- Support dispute resolution processes, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and expert determination.
- Maintain comprehensive contract registers, logs, and documentation control systems.
- Liaise with project managers, quantity surveyors, legal counsel, and stakeholders to align contract administration with project objectives.
- Provide training and guidance to junior contract administrators and project teams on contractual obligations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in construction contract administration, preferably on large-scale infrastructure, commercial, or industrial projects.
- Professional certification such as PMP, CCM, or RICS membership is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of standard contract forms (FIDIC Red/Yellow/Silver Books, NEC3/4, JCT, AIA) and local construction law.
- Proven track record in claims preparation, variation management, and payment certification.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills with fluency in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Construction Law, Project Management, or Contract Management.
- Experience with international projects in the Middle East/GCC region.
- Familiarity with contract management software (Aconex, Procore, Viewpoint, Oracle Primavera).
- Expertise in delay analysis techniques (Time Impact Analysis, Window Analysis, As-Planned vs As-Built).
