About the Role

Broco is building the financial infrastructure of Francophone Africa — starting where money already flows: merchants, delivery riders, cash agents, delivery networks, and supply chains. We are seeking an experienced Head of Risk & Compliance to lead our risk management and regulatory compliance strategy across the region. This is a senior leadership role that will shape the governance framework of a fast-growing fintech.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework covering operational, credit, market, and liquidity risks.
• Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements in Francophone African markets, including AML/CFT, data protection, and consumer protection laws.
• Lead the design and execution of internal control policies, procedures, and monitoring systems.
• Oversee the compliance team, providing guidance on regulatory changes and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to embed risk controls into new products and processes.
• Prepare and present risk and compliance reports to the board and senior management.
• Manage relationships with regulators, auditors, and external advisors.
• Drive a culture of compliance and risk awareness across the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., FRM, PRM, CAMS, CRCM) preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management and compliance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within fintech, banking, or financial services.
• Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks in Francophone Africa (e.g., BCEAO, COBAC, OHADA).
• Proven track record of building and scaling risk and compliance functions in high-growth environments.
• Fluency in English and French (written and spoken) is required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with digital payments, mobile money, or e-commerce platforms.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies such as blockchain, AI, and data analytics in risk management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, fast-paced startup environment.
